North Parade Clean Up Success

A second weekend has been spent with volunteers from Hoylake Beach Community helping to restore our beloved North Parade Victorian promenade back to its former glory.

The community group has been working with WBC to gain permission to remove weeds and sand which have been prohibiting access for wheelchair and pram users along the front for quite some time.

The team were delighted to receive feedback from various residents of North Parade who confirmed that the netting IS definitely helping to reduce the amount of sand blown onto the road and pavement.

Lots of people passing by paused to thank the volunteers for their efforts, all feedback was extremely positive towards Hoylake Beach Community and the mission to restore part of the beach back to sand for the people of Hoylake to use once again.

Thank you to all our volunteers, the people of Hoylake really appreciate your hard work. Well done!!!

A path used to run where the hazard barrier is in this video. It went along this side and around the green (next to the Lifeboat station). This part of our community is now unaccessible to wheelchair users.

The wide opening on the slipway shown in this video has nothing to prevent the wind blown sand escaping from the beach: WBC need to address this.

Gallery above shows blocked drains and piles of sand which HBC volunteers have removed on behalf of WBC over the last two weekends.

Image 1 shows a Hoyle Road once a grass verge now covered in sand because the raising beach levels are allowing the sand to fly freely off the beach and onto the roads and pavements.

These images demonstrate why beach management should continue and should never have stopped.
